CTN Woodlands: Learning Styles to Learning Strategies

Research tells us that there are a number of learning styles and that everyone has one he or she prefers to employ when learning new content. That can be challenging for an instructional designer and facilitator when training groups of more than three. This workshop will explore the different learning styles and how to develop creative and effective learning strategies that can help overcome this challenge. During this workshop, participants will complete a brief questionnaire to determine their learning styles. In addition, the format for this workshop will be a participative roundtable.

After completing this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Leverage the four learning styles to enhance the effectiveness of their training
• Develop creative learning strategies for reaching all the learning style
• Apply a best practice from one of the other participants

Speaker Bio

David Davis, President and Owner of Romar Learning Solutions

David is a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in General Science. David started his career at the Parke-Davis division of Warner-Lambert as a pharmaceutical sales representative in 1983. During his 18-year career with Parke-Davis, he held positions in sales, sales management, human resources, and training and development, including Director of Management and Leadership Development and Director of Sales Training. In 1999, David left Parke-Davis to join LearnWare, an e-Learning solution provider, where he was Director of Proprietary Product Development. LearnWare evolved into Accelera and in January 2002, David transferred to Romar, Accelera’s sister company. At Romar, as Managing Director of Consulting, he was charged with leading the creation and execution of effective skills-based learning solutions. In January 2008, David became president and owner of Romar Learning Solutions, where he now leads a team of talented learning professionals whose mission is to excel at understanding clients’ needs and to create innovative performance development solutions that drive results.
