General Meeting: Networking to CONNECT! Effective networking for creating and sustaining successful business relationships

Networking isn’t just about passing out business cards at a social hour or business meeting. It is about developing relationships and connections with people in all areas of our work and life. Whether you are already a savvy charismatic networker or a quieter less outgoing person, you will find tips and techniques in this session to develop new relationships with people from all walks of life. And, you will learn how to create and sustain connections with people you already know for greater productivity, effectiveness and fun.
Using the acronym CONNECT, participants will
- Identify what they have in Common with individuals in and outside of their network
- Discuss the Opinions and assumptions that exist about networking purpose and outcomes
- Discover and develop Networking Niches, or areas to focus attention and energy when networking
- Understand the value of External and internal networking niches
- Practice using effective questioning to make Connections
- Utilize best practice for networking with Technology, such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook

About the Speakers
Margaret Johnson
Margaret Johnson works with clients to bust assumptions, apply creative genius to tackle issues and develop courageous risk taking to assist in solving problems. Her creative, engaging style inspires individuals to apply knowledge and take immediate action for success. Margaret received her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and then moved to Texas as fast as she could! With her MBA (University of Houston - Clear Lake), professional engineering license and ICF (International Coach Federation) PCC corporate coaching credentials, she inspires people and organizations to move from S.O.S. (Same Old Stuff) to W.O.W.! (Well On the Way) to where they want to be. Her industry experience includes performing engineering analyses, leadership and technical sales and marketing to energy executives. She is certified in the CreatrixTM creativity and risk-taking assessment, EQ2.0 and EQ360 and The Game of Income Outcome – business acumen for non-financial professionals and managers. She is a published author – “From SOS to WOW! Your Personal Coaching Adventure” - and a keynote speaker on creativity, risk taking and leadership topics. She enjoys golf, beaches, volunteering, is a certified group exercise instructor in indoor cycle, yoga and weight lifting and loves spending time with her growing family.
Teresa Jurgens-Kowal
Teresa Jurgens-Kowal is a recovering introvert that enjoys meeting new people! In her boutique consulting firm, Global NP Solutions, Teresa specializes in innovation leadership, project, and portfolio management, and helping organizations achieve their most important strategic goals. She holds degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington (PhD) and University of Idaho (BS) with an MBA concentrating on Computer and Decision Making from West Texas A&M University. Her credentials include New Product Development Professional (NPDP), Project Management Professional (PMP®), and Certified Professional Engineering Manager (CPEM). She is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Louisiana. Teresa also teaches several classes in the Process Technology Department at San Jacinto College. She volunteers with the American Society of Engineering Management as the South Central Regional Director and enjoys scrapbooking, hiking, and bicycling.
