Topic:  The ability to use best practices for writing eLearning narration scripts to produce sound, effective narration can increase learner retention and engagement. However, an understanding of how to effectively apply narration to eLearning has the potential to expand flexibility to instructional design and delivery which supports learning retention and engagement. Additionally, connecting the benefits of both self-narration and outsourcing narration can help determine which approach is best for a particular project.

In this presentation, participants will learn:

  • The benefits of using proper narration
  • Best practices for writing narration scripts
  • How narration can expand options for presenting eLearning training material
  • The difference between poor narration and effective narration
  • Simple techniques for getting the narration right on the first go-around
  • How a professional narrator can simplify work life and make you happier
  • The shocking truth about cost
  • How to find and select a voice-over narrator
  • Audio File Technical Considerations

After attending the presentation, participants will be knowledgeable of the benefits of both self-narration and outsourcing narration and be able to determine which approach is best for a particular project. For outsourcing, participants will understand how to estimate the financial cost of budget planning, and how to find a narrator. Participants will have an understanding of specific audio file technical specifications such as file parsing requirements, naming conventions, file type options, and bit-rate requirements.

Speaker: Jay Prichard is a voiceover narrator and voiceover producer for eLearning, training, PowerPoint, corporate, technology, legal, and tradeshow videos, as well as commercials and film. He has narrated over 40 audiobooks, both fiction and non-fiction. 

With a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and corporate experience that includes marketing, sales, employee training, customer training, tradeshow management, and presenter, he has a solid foundation for working with business clients and understanding their needs, with a professional, reliable attitude.
