Protecting my Clients/Colleagues…from Myself – Understanding our Own Vulnerability Triggers

Topic:  You would probably laugh if someone told you that you needed to be perfect, yet many of us put on substantial masks to appear that way when we offer our professional services (as consultants and employees). The most colorful part of the human experience is a rigorous focus on continual growth. However, the hard part about growth is not knowing what, where, and how we have some room to advance. Ultimate effectiveness with others requires shining the light on our own Johari window of ‘not knowing’ which area could be preventing true connection for fear someone might find out we’re not…enough.

Join New Horizon Strategies, LLC founder, speaker, coach, consultant and facilitator, Laurie Peterson, in an experiential understanding of how vulnerability sustains (or handicaps) resilient relationships. Using Dr. Brené Brown’s research and experiential tools from The Daring WayTM and Rising StrongTM programs, we will dissect vulnerability in relationship to trust and search our core for the triggers affecting our own leadership style. These are the roots of cultural growth and apply at individual, team, and community levels both personally and professionally.

Laurie wants this session to have the greatest impact for you. Please watch Dr. Brené Brown’s 2010 TED talk (which is one of the top 5 most watched TED talks of all time) on “The Power of Vulnerability” before the meeting on October 18. http://brenebrown.com/videos/ If you have any questions, please reach out to Laurie via Laurie.Peterson@NewHorizonStratgies.com.

The method was developed to help men, women, and adolescents learn how to show up, be seen, and live braver lives. The primary focus is on developing shame resilience skills and developing a courage practice that transforms the way we live, love, parent, and lead. It can be facilitated in clinical, educational, and professional settings and is suitable for work with individuals, couples, families, work teams, and organizational leaders.
