Topic:  Graphic design isn’t just for aesthetics. Knowing a few simple design principles and tools can make your learning content more understandable and memorable. Design can be used to tell your story or convey an idea in a way nothing else can. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words, but if used incorrectly, images can also cause more confusion than understanding. This presentation outlines how to make your training programs more effective, understandable, and memorable through the use of good visual design and how to avoid common mistakes that detract from your content.

Learning Objectives:  Cara will provide learning leaders with specific design tools and theories that they can use in their own presentations to improve their audience’s retention and understanding. You should walk away from this meeting confident that you can make a more impactful presentation and to know what options are available for creating professional-looking graphics.

ATD Competency Model - Area of Expertise This Session Supports:   Instructional Design

Speaker:  Cara Lackey is a motion designer focusing on creating training and marketing animations for large industrial clients. Her specialty is animating complicated stories in easy to understand, memorable ways. Cara’s job is to clearly show you things that don’t exist yet, that a camera can’t reach, or that are too complicated to describe verbally. Several start-ups, advertising agencies, major oil companies, and the leading textile recycling company in America have trusted her with championing their brand.

Join us in the main hall, we’ll have a reserved table off to side for our CTN.
