Session Description:  This remarkable presentation is based on break through research that uncovers why impenetrable barriers continue for many aspiring women leaders. Until now, no one has been able to accurately pinpoint the key reason why so few women make it to the very top. Often referred to as the Glass Ceiling, Nancy Parsons helps us identify gender differences that can trigger premature halts to the challenging upward climb in a career.

What is the impact of the Glass Ceiling on the bottom line? Why has it held firm for so long? Learn why this isn't just a "woman" thing but rather it is an important business and leadership development opportunity for all.

CDR's research found there are inherent personality risk factor gender differences among men and women leaders. You will learn that everyone has certain risks that can manifest under conflict and pressure. These risks often result in undermining one's effectiveness. Risks can prematurely derail promotional opportunities especially if we remain unaware of our own risks.

With this new research and understanding of what risks can get in the way of performance, you can lead the way to bring down the invisible barriers to success so that the glass ceiling is no longer an obstacle. The ultimate key to fixing the problem resides with ATD professionals who can, with these new data, help design and deliver training and development approaches so that all leaders rise to their true potential.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify the 4 key personality risk factor differences causing gender and cultural differences in leaders
  • Recognize how cultural perceptions and labeling are substantially more damaging even though identical leadership behaviors are displayed
  • Develop personal action plans to heighten awareness and communication
  • Understand the value of implementing orientation initiatives for leaders throughout organizations to share the impact and nature of true gender differences and cultural bias
