Mentees will typically be early in their career or have less experience and have a desire to grow personally and professionally. Click here to access the mentor application.

Mentees will already be working in the learning & talent development profession and have a desire to work with a more experienced professional in deepening their knowledge and skills in this field as well as wanting to explore ways of extending their career. Click here to access the mentee application.

The mentor program is not suitable for those seeking to transition into the learning & talent development profession.

How to Apply to Participate in the Program

The 2016 mentor program is open to all members of the ATD Houston Chapter. The program is free to members but there are expectations for both Mentors and Mentees. We ask you to make a commitment to the program for a year and ensure adequate time is made available to meet at reasonable times throughout the program. Please note that to participate in the program you must be able to attend the kickoff event.

How are Mentors and Mentees matched?

Successful applicants will need to present their resumes to the Mentor Program Director as part of their application as well as completing the online application form. Successful Mentees will self-select from the pool of Mentors based on professional background and individual development needs.

Program Overview

The ATD Houston Mentoring Program is designed to bring chapter members together to provide an interpersonal channel of career development and growth opportunities. The mentoring program supports Integrated Talent Management and Coaching as core competencies identified by the ATD Competency Model.

The 2016 Mentor Program

Following the success of the pilot mentor program that was launched in 2014, we are pleased to announce the 2016 ATD Houston Mentoring Program that is planned to launch in mid-June. This year’s program will last for 1 year and give ample opportunity for rich and creative professional relationships to develop between the mentor and mentee. The 2016 TD Houston Mentoring Program will be supported by a coaching event to facilitate the development of key skill sets and will benefit both the mentor and mentee.

What is Mentoring?

Mentoring is most often defined as a professional relationship in which an experienced person (the mentor) assists another (the mentee) in developing specific skills and knowledge that will enhance the less-experienced person’s professional and personal growth.  Click here to read a mentor story.
